About Us

*The Banff Wilderness Care Conference is a two day mixed format conference held annually at the end of May or early June in the beautiful Canadian Rockies.  The conference is located in the internationally recognized and spectacular Banff National Park.  Home to a large group of medical experts who have a deep passion for the wilderness, often combining their life's passions.  Such an amazing place makes it easy to bring world class expertise to a Canadian setting.  The conference its self has run successfully over the past six years, offering quality plenary style lectures with hands-on outdoor workshops designed to provide an opportunity to practice skills and knowledge in a "real world" setting.    We believe there is no scope of practice for knowledge and encourage anyone with an interest in wilderness medicine from first-aiders to physicians to join us.  If you participate in wilderness activities and may find yourself in a position to provide care to someone who is sick or injured we are certain you will enjoy this event.  Physicians will find practical skills to help bridge the gap between a clinical and austere setting, while first aiders, paramedics and nurses can develop a deeper understanding of wilderness specific issues.

The Banff Wilderness Care Conference is proudly working with the Canadian Association of Wilderness Medicine to further develop wilderness medicine in Canada.  We look forward to working closely with the association to deliver amazing experiences to everyone who participates in our events.

Due to COVID restrictions our regular event occurring at the end of May 2021 will not be held in person.  The Banff Wilderness Care Conference is working with its partners to create virtual workshops that will be made available for the summer of 2021.  We hope these restrictions will be lifted by 2022 and we will continue with our 2 day conferences focusing on high quality hands on workshops.
